Some pics from the Skagit Tulip Fly-In & Airshow, April

Mon Apr 27, 2009 2:37 pm

This was my first time attending this little show and it was pretty fun. The weather was kinda cruddy but I made the most of it.

First off, can someone shed some light on this PBY located down the road from the airport? I'm sure it's been discussed on here but I guess I missed it.

And on with the show!

Interesting markings! Must be a Douglas built Navion... Or is it a World Cruiser?

Good photography, but why on earth must people put obviously civilian aircraft in spurious military markings?

Because it's fun.
Ken's "Douglas" Navion was that way when he bought has was Dave's.
Ken previously had T-6G FAH 206 "Rosie" and led "Texan Flight" many years in these parts.
He's a really great formation pilot and leader :!:

Fun? It's foolish, puerile and pointless. Perhaps the owners think it makes them look patriotic?

Because he who pays the bills can paint his airplane however he wants to paint it.

Don't they all have military heritage though......the only one I would think didnt would be the twin navion (i think thats what it is)

I have seen some silly painted P-51s over the years too

...and you care, why? How about posting a couple pics of your aircraft so that we may opine.

puerile

I don't think a fanciful paint job is in any way childish.
I certainly wouldn't say that to Ken's (or anyone else's) face
Hopefully his T-6G meets with better approval :!:
