That picture is in my "I love me collection". My wife won't let me cut my hair like that anymore. It started when she made me grow it out for the wedding. Now she likes it.

I think I remember the stuff about Bill.. was that when he played indian giver with the Harvard?

If I recall correctly, this was the year we took about 8 or 9 planes up to McChord for the show. We got everything back home on Sunday except the TBM. Bud took the Fouga home on Sunday and came down to take the Avenger back to Olympia on Monday. It had to be gone by a certain time of the morning or the Air Force would get mad.

We were fast running out of time and I was sitting in my office at the squadron anyhow so I took a crew bus out to the plane. After I did the preflight and called ground, I cranked it up so I'd have the plane warm so Bud could leave as soon as he showed up. So here I am sitting in the TBM with the engine running and the Air Force cops showed up. They just stood there looking at me and making motions with their hands. One of them walked up to the back of the wing but was too short to climb up on it. After a few more minutes it was warm enough so I shut down.

The cops wanted to know who I was and what I was doing on the flight line without an escort. I crawled down and he saw I was in uniform and had a line badge. Then they wanted to know what I was doing bothering this "private airplane" so I pointed out my name on the side. They were slightly confused but finally left without shooting me. Bud showed up about ten minutes later and flew back to Olympia.

That's been nearly ten years ago now, sure doesn't seem like it though!

Has I recall Bill's med was expired but he was getting $$ to show up so he made a deal with Ken to take it with him in exchange Ken got to fly in during the show. Ken came out Saturday morning to fly and it was locked up with Ken's gear in it. When he finally got hold of him Bill said no flying except home. So Ken said f you and I think you called Dimmer and got the OK to use his a/c. This is you and Ken coming back from Oly. I'm thinking this was about 6 years ago. Ken being a stand up guy flew the HVD home instead of stranding Bill in WA.
Ken loved that first shot and had me crop you out amd make him a 8 x 10  :P

Seems like Bill had a broken arm then, but I'm not 100% on that. I do know that the excuse he gave Ken was that being a Harvard, the mixture worked backwards and he didn't want Ken flying it alone. More than a few people heard Bill tell him he could fly the plane but he denied the entire thing. I recall that Ken's parachute and helmet being locked in the plane and he was concerned about leaving without them. It was a big mess.

I'm pretty sure that's been over six years ago as I left McChord in 2003 and I don't recall us taking anything to that last show. That might have been one of the years that McChord canceled. Of course, I could be wrong about the timeframe anyhow. All those years in Washington are just one big haze of parties, war, flying and airshows. It all tends to run together!

The Morley's have to be some of my all time favorite people. They just can't be beat.

Standard SkyCops....they're never sure who they're supposed to be protecting and why.
