Warbird Information Exchange

At RAAF Amberley Airbase there is an F-111A instructional airframe from the very early producton/prototype that has the ejection seats fitted insted of the later escape module.

Rumour has it that it is to be returned to the U.S to be put on display in the Smithsonian or another museum maybe.

But to compund that ... didnt the Australian Govt buy that very airframe in 1999 or so for cold storage testing?.
I recall seeing it at Garden Island navy base in Sydney after it was offloaded.
