Shuttleworth Spitfire Progress, and a trip round the hangars

A few shots showing the latest progress of the restoration of the Shuttleworth Collection Spitfire AR501.

The restoration work is of the highest standards (closer to a work of art) and as much of the original is being re-used, frequently creating more work that producing new.







Just a couple of the myriad of bags and boxes, all numbered and ticketed, used to store parts. Everything removed is itemised and located by means of copious notes and diagrams. The restoration would make a darn fine book when finished.

Meanwhile, in the Blister hangar, engineers enjoy themsleves with the happy task of refitting the pots on the Klemm engine

Thanks chaps, I will try and get some more this weekend. I was joking about the book but I think I have the beginnings of a plan.
