The following F-86D photo was taken by Jack R. Kerr in 1961. Believe it was taken at Stewart AFB, NY. Request confirmation.

Can confirm it was at Stewart. I have a good bud (ret. Col.) who flew it at Stewart. He says it has "interesting" history. He will give me the details tomorrow and I will pass them on soonest.

Hugh

JK,
That particular Sabredog was flown into Stewart around '59 or '60 by an ANG pilot who had a minor emergency. Because the 329th FG had previously deactivated one of their squadrons (331st FIS) and was just about to exchange the remaining 86s from the 330th FIS for B-57s, somehow the Group CO had that particular 86 declared Class 26. He then had it repainted as a 330th bird with his name painted on the canopy and the four green bands on the fuselage (denoting Group CO) and had it towed and parked in front of HQs. It was to be referred to as "his" airplane. I get the impression that the CO wasn't very well liked or respected.
Regards,
Hugh

Does this bird still exist? I don't see any notations about it at Joe Baugher's site...
