How much were they wanting? I have no idea what the going rate is for a Mig-21. Does anyone really? Do these change hands often, and if so, what would a static vs. flying one go for? I'd think not too much.

Nice pictures. Were they taken Friday? Saturday, when the clouds raised enough for me to get the U-11 there, the ramp had more planes. You missed taking photos of the flags all looking like they were starched! Winds at one point were gusting a little over 40!
They parked all the planes at an angle, and the wind was blowing from tails to noses...until Sunday, when they shifted 180 and were on the nose. Not any let up in the speed though! Both days it was about a 40 degree crosswind.
The excitement was when a THUNDERBIRD collided with a Randolph AFB T-1 jet! It was a sickening sound! Oh, not a USAF Thunderbird, a 1963 Ford Thunderbird. It was at the end of Saturday. They had some classic cars parked on the apron of one of the old hangars. The T-bird went around a stopped '74 VW, and was looking at it when he ran into the left wing tip of the T-1. Broken windshield and antenna, dented chrome trim around the windshield of the T-bird. The T-1 had damage to the wing tip and a trim tab. Who knows what damage was done inside the wing.
I'm sure he'll have to repeat the story a few times to his insurance agent!

I thought the going rate for Mig-21's was something like 1000 gallons an hour...

this was run by the daughters of the republic? not a very well run show. THey had more interest in their cause than these beautiful aircraft. The weather could not have helped either!!
Sure enjoyed watching Ol '97 coming in on Friday. Nice turns.., nice fly by and perfect landing

There was some additional interesting information posted about the Mig as well. I asked about it being on the ramp and was told by one of the folks at the FBO that it was in the big hangar at the south end of the field, but the MiG owner got way behind in his rent, so the guy who has the hangar leased put it out on the ramp. It appears there had been some work being done on it at one time as some panels are missing at the leading edge attach point on both sides. There is a lot of rust showing now on the steel parts.
