Interesting thing about trademarks, though: you have to keep using them or you lose your rights in them. In most jurisdictions, you lose your rights if you have not actively used a mark for 5 years. That said, I have no idea how this dispute would come out.

That's okay, every time I think I have it figured out, some special interest group comes along and changes the rules...again.

Notice it doesn't go both ways; Confederate Air Force = bad, Yankee Air Museum = Good

I didn't like the change, but I am used to the new name, now. I understand and agree with the decision though. Stand back and flip your nose at the PC media...and loose donations and sponsors. Change the name and it is just a group dedicated to preserving those war machines, making noise in the air and endangering people on the ground by flying those worn out deathtraps.

I guess I should have left that out, but heck with it...sorry for the rant.

As for the new CAF...whatever.

In light of Robbie's observation, could this just be an attempt of scammers to make some money and gain your personal information?

The thing that gets me is we were told that corporate America had millions of bucks they would love to give to us, but they didn't want to have to explain to their stockholders why they were donating to a racist organization. By changing our name, we would get the money. My question is, where's all that money?

If people didn't want to donate to the Confederate Air Force, why not give the money to the American Airpower Heritage Flying Museum? That's who owns the planes anyway!

I doesn't matter. Confederate and rebel are words that amount to a clarion call for certain segments of the US population. It is indefensible in public discourse because to try is to automatically be pro-slavery and racist. After a while a person wonders if it is worth it. As the CAF did.

Even though there are people in Missouri who are greatly offended by "Jayhawk" and "Redleg" those are okay.

It isn't right, or wrong, Its just one of those things.

But I really liked those jackets that were an homage to the AVG jacket.

who use their warped version of history to further political agendas. They find "the "boogeyman" where there is none
and miss some important truths of our history. Pity..

Last year in celebration of Jefferson Davis' 200th birthday, PBS aired a documentary five years in the making,
Jefferson Davis: An American President. One of the finest, succinct treatments of that part of our history
and what the USA lost as a whole...repercussions we deal with to this day from our "Big Brothers" in Washington.
This is not a "them dirty Yanks" type of doco, but is well presented and discussed fairly, IMHO. 90 bux is a bit steep
for me...but the DVD is worth every penny if your a history buff..
