Just loving rare beast...Gloster F.9/37

This thing was more or less designed at the same time as the P-38. Goes to show how some era design got ahead of the crowd by the use of new technology.

What do you think was the most significant ? Aerodynamics ? Monocoque aluminium construction ( stressed skin ) ? Engine improvements ? Systems improvements ?

In any cases.....some pilled it up & got a winning combination. NOT the case here.

I know....it's Wiki !!!

The Gloster F.9/37 was a British twin-engined design for a cannon armed fighter to serve with the Royal Air Force during the Second World War. Although it was initially favoured, the Gloster F.9/37 was not able to compete with other, more advanced designs.
