Man, how do they expect $425,000 out of something in that condition?

Ain't gonna happen! I'll bet he gets around 150k, if that.

I think the Fighter Factory sold a pretty clean airframe w/ low corrosion, and just bad spars for $200k.

It's a one of a kind aircraft... that will make for a higher value. I don't think they did a good job of showing the aircraft in the photos though. Sad to see Lex sell her, but it will be something else to see her finally restored.

Cheers,
Richard

I would have thought that the majority of warbirds have a "Government history"?

Sad to see he wants to part with it though.

My aircraft painting business is just now 2 years old. Last year I was as much as 6 months backloged with work. In November of 08 the work and the phone calls ceased. I now have just one plane in the hanger and a couple more on the way.

I think we are all in for a time of higher stress! I am glad for the occasional good laugh this site generates.

Occasionally someone on WIX posts something along the lines of "Why don't we pool our money and sponser a WIX airplane or restoration?"

Well? Here's a good one to do it with. Just a crazy thought...

I was thinking the same thing when I saw your post. The lineage of this aircraft is pretty well documented with who was where with what at the time of the mishap. I know that ifin I had as much cash as the ever so fortunate PA, That she would be in my Restoration Hangar in a New York Second.

Sad that Lex has to sell it. . . he deserves the plane but alas money does not grow on trees.
