Great photos Jack...thanks for all that you post here.
A friend of my late father flew with VMF-223 from Piva North, which was more inland than Torokina, near Empress Augusta Bay on Bougainville. Piva North and South were parallel fighter strips and were also known as Piva Yoke and Piva Uncle.

Location: Hong Kong mostly but UK sometimes...
Great shots as usual..

Piva North was 're-opened' in 1972 for a couple of years and used by light aircraft. The outlines of both strips are just discernable on Goggle Earth...
