In Vietnam i understand they wore parachute backpack style, flight helmet with boom mike and sometime maybe a oxygen mask along with surivial vest.

Anyone know as i understand the T28 is rather roomy and movable cockpit.. is that correct or is it a tight fit like the Sabre cockpit it was designed to prepare the students for?

Just wondering as how i will fit in a cockpit for photo purposes with all the gear i wear.

It's HUGE inside - especially the back.

much much bigger than a T-6 as a standard reference point...

As I recall (it's been a while), the T-28 is just about as wide as a P-47 with almost the legroom of an AD-1.

Ive sat in both Mustang and Sabres and can say for a 6'4 ft bloke they are a VERY tight fit....

I'm 6'2" 280# and I have lots of room - very comfortable even.

I'll assume you are going to be in the back as it is your first flight. Here are some not very good pictures of the back when we were doing the cockpit clean-up (note tools and toobox on inst. cowl) to give you an idea of the room on the sides and all around the seat. I think you will be quite comfortable and will leave the flight wanting one for yourself. The hardest part will be climbing in and out....

For a two seat trainer it is huge. You are going to have a great time - very comfortable, the vis is spectacular and she is a sweetheart to fly.

The two most difficult actual skills needed to fly a T-28 are:
1. climbing in and out
2. starting the engine
