Does anyone have the ID info (serial number, construction number of civil registration) of the Connie at the Fantasy of Flight? It may actually be a Starliner.

I seem to remember a thread here on WIX about it, but I can't find it.

I wonder what plans Luftansa has for this plane. Will it be taken to Maine to be incorporated into the restoration of the Connies there?

From the project manager's statements, some parts will be removed and it will be signed over to the museum.

Its kind of odd that Lufthansa doesn't restore this one. This is the only remaining original Lufthansa Starliner and it actually served as West Germany's equivilent of Air Force One.

I plan on visiting Fantasy of Flight at end of March....I noticed that the Connie seems to be parked a bit away from the main buildings...can it be photographed up close or it is parked in a restricted area?

I have never seen an Starliner in the flesh before so I wanted to take the opportunity to do a walkaround photo shot.

When I was there in November, the Starliner was in a fenced off area with no real access for the general public to get near it, other than to take photos from outside the fence.

You may need to talk with someone at the museum in order to get permission to walk behind the fence. I bet if you ask nicely they will help you out.

The Connie that we have has been signed over to us and some parts have been removed to support the restoration of the aircraft that they are choosing to restore. The reason they did not choose this aircraft for restoration was because it was the worst of three as far as corrasion and condition of the airframe.

With regards to better photo access to the Connie I can always ask politely then....use some Canadian charm..
