Folks...

Contributed some pics lately to a site dedicated to the aviation history of the former Stapleton airport here in Colorado....thought folks might be interested, just some pot shots really....take a gander....the wrecked building is the former Tallichet owned '94th Aero Squadron' off of the east west runways after the fire.....I'm sure the guy who runs the site would also be interested in any othe contributions the Colorado crowd (or any others!) might have to contribute...

Blue, I was hoping you'd see these.....figger you might have some stuff from Stapleton if you were photographing back then.....the B-25 in the pics is Jerry Tepper's 'Can Do', formerly 'Bronco Bustin Bomber' with Don Davis, we got to ride in it with the B-29 and B-24 during the promotional flight out of Stapleton.....the one with Dave Fain's T-6 in it (C-150) has a hangar in it in the background that Joe Thibodeau used to keep his Mustang 'Crusader' in before he moved to Centennial.....quite a sight one day for this young avaiation photographer to turn around expecting a 727 to come in over me under the runways and instead see Joe's P-51 coming at me getting ready to land....followed him all the way down the runway and to that hangar that day!

Mark,
That site is great! Thanks for posting it.
Back in the 90s I used to go down to the end of the runway and watch the aircraft fly over.
That was before the warbird bug bit.

I do miss Stapleton.
Seeing Joe Thibodeau mustang fly over is always a thrill.
The crusader has a great sound! sounds different from most Mustangs????

You got to ride in the B-29 and B-24? Wow!
That must have been great!!!!! What was the B-29 like?
I bet that was awesome!

Best Regards,
-Paul

No, no no.....did'nt get to ride in the B-24 and B-29 (I WISH!), but got to fly WITH them in Jerry's B-25 as they flew over Denver promoting an airshow....only got a few shots of the B-29 air to air but LOTS of Diamond Lil as she was straight across from us in the B-25...great ride, and originated and ended at Stapleton...very cool...

Do you have any air to air shots from the B-25? Be interesting to see!

Only got a couple of air to airs of the -29 as it was in the lead and ahead of us most of the time (and we were back by the waist gun positions with the porthole removed for photos), but as you can see we got good stuff of Diamond Lil over near the foothills and Lookout mountain....
