Hi,
Looking for close-up details of all the wing ID plates of the Bridgeport, CT FG-1D. We are particularly interested in the ID plates on the wings and the area where they attached to the fuselage. The ID plate close-up behind the fire wall will be a bonus. Plz see pics included. Tks

Here's the ones I have.

Your question for photos one and two are the same data Plate. It's a Willys-Overland manufactured center section tag. Right up my ally! two things that are my favorites: Jeeps and Corsairs!

Firewall plate:

Then I've got The left wing:

...and the right wing:

And then a plate I'm not sure of exactly where I took it on the airframe:

Just one question, what do you need them for?
Are you involved with the project?
Blue skies,
Jerry

Jaldo and Jerry:
Thanks a lot for your amazing pics. Great quality and superb info.
I'm helping FAH 619 in an ident project involving the following:

1.Our research of the true FAS FG-1Ds BUNOs is continuing. They also had 4 FG-1Ds as spares. Others said there were F4U-4/F4U-5 Type.

2. Wings on FAS FG-1Ds were swapped for maint or cannibalization. Each wing has a unique S/N attached that should match the ID plate inside the aircraft. In this case Buno 92460.

3. What we need to know is what are the BUNOs shown on the ID plates of the wings only. Do any of the Briggs Manufacturing Co ID plates show any BUN0 numbers?

Guys, your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Once again, thank you for your help,

So far, I haven't found any that match the aircraft's BuNo.

Thanks a bunch for your help. Can you tell us where is the exact location of the ID plate included. Is it on the wing itself??

Do you have a a close-up of the ID plate of the main instrument panel.

Thank you so much,

I went back and took another look and that tag is on the center section stub, just forward of the right flap retract cutout. It's the same side as the Willys-Overland plate and if you zoom in on the first photo you posted originally, you can see it.

Only plates on the instrument panel are placards for aircraft operations. The center one on the panel is for "Carb Air Temp: Shift to Lower Blower if light is on". the one on the upper left is in reference to 60 Gallon reserve tank.

Interesting photos... looks like the right wing came from an early Gooyear production model (FG-1 or FG-1A)... which is pretty interesting. I wonder when that might have happened. Did El Salvador get any spare parts, as big as entire wings, along with their corsairs?

Also, that't the first time I've seen a data plate with a Bu.No. on it, other than the main makers plate of course (which was located on the inside of the left-hand cockpit wall, roughly where the pilot's left elbow would be).

Speaking of main data plates, do you have any photos of the one for this aircraft?

Also, you guys should keep your eyes pealed for parts associated with the aircraft which have the aircraft serial written on them (in pencil) or painted, such as panels, or ammo boxes. I've seen several ammo boxes with the aircraft serial written on in pencil before, as well as panels from goodyear aircraft with the serial painted on.

Cheers,
Richard

Do you know what the close-ups of the wing id plates would show on these pictures?

I took the photos back in January and haven't been down to the Corsair lately, but from what I can recall, I took photos of every plate that was on the outboard section of each wing.
Next time I'm down there I'll double check.

Those are photos of a Skyraider, aren't they? Perhaps Eric Downing would be the best person to ask that question, as he could check rather easily.

Cheers,
Richard

Nice pick up Richard!
I didn't even look at anything but the location before I answered.
