I have already posted requests for information regarding two specific Gooses that represent gaps in my personal G-21 database. Instead of continuing to target specific aircraft, let me open up the field a bit.

If anyone has specific current information about the whereabouts or history or disposition of any Goose still in existence, or knows for a fact what happened to a Goose that disappeared years ago, I'd appreciate hearing from you about it. There were only 345 of them, so it's not like this will generate too much of a flood. (I hope I don't have to eat those words.)

I am very aware of other Grumman Goose databases online, such as Eddy Haynes' Goose Central and the Catalina Goose site. I have found that the "current" FAA registration database is a joke - Red Dodge's N2845D, s/n B-112, although listed "in question," is still listed! It crashed and was lost at sea in 1982 for goodness sake! There are numerous others still registered to Antilles Air Boats, Dean Franklin, and so forth that are in fact long gone.

So, any specific, factual, first-hand knowledge that can verify or validate the current status, service history, or fate of any Goose would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Do you know Don "Bucky" Dawson up in Ketchikan Alaska? He is an authority on Grumman seaplanes and has a great deal of historical material, especially about Alaskan operations.

He posts a lot over on www.aafo.com and could be reached through that website...

Neal,
I have talked to Bucky several times in the last two years - and just arranged to sell him some extrusion for his restoration of N88821 the week before last.

I did not know about that other forum posts that he uses, however, so thanks very much for that.

The dark navy blue painted Goose that flew off the Carl Vinson a few years back is based out at Northwest Regional airport (52F), Roanoke, Texas. Cant seem to find the N# for it. Next time the hangar is open I will shoot a pic. It is just three hangars down from where I keep my ship.

Hi Dan,
Nice to meet you. It sounds like you're talking about Glen Johnson's N87U (s/n B-126). Even though it is registered to a shell company in Las Vegas, I have been told that it is in Roanoke, TX - is that where you are? I talked to Glen Hyde about it a year ago or so. He told me that Glen flies the Goose to Maine every year while on vacation. Must be nice to be able to do that...
