New Storch airborne

Wed Mar 11, 2009 11:14 am

This is G-STCH, the first Argus-powered Storch airborne in the UK for around 20 years I think, on her first test flight today. Owned by Peter Holloway and will be based and operated out of Old Warden aerodrome along with the rest of his fleet.

The first Storch's I saw were @ OSH in 1990 and they had flown a distance to get there...v-e-r-y slowly.
I did not realize at the time how rare they are. They are my favorite STOL a/c.
Thanks for pictures & information about this "new" warbird...

Beautiful bird and thanks for the great photos. I really like the color scheme on this one...something
different than we're used to seeing!

Probably Bob Van Ausdell's which he donated to the AFM.

Looks good, not keen on the plain scheme though

The scheme represents an aircraft that was one of Hitler's personal transports:

I think he was considering a pseudo-N69QF scheme, but decided on the 'less is more' approach.
