The Natl WW2 Museum in New Orleans now has on display an SBD-3 Duantless on loan from the NMNA. The plane is a combat veteran of Guadacanal and was pulled up from he depths of Lake Michigan in 1990. The article I am reading goes on to say that a Marine Corps Veteran of WW2, Paul Hilliard has sponsored the recovery of an additional SBD from Lake Michigan and when this plane is restored it will go on display at the museum and the SBD-3 will be returned to the NMNA. Does this mean additional aircarft have been recovered from Lake Michigan recently??

Looks like the NMNA's SBD's that were in the main museum are still there, but there was one in storage. I wonder if it is that one.

As mentioned in the last two Navy Recovery articles in Classic Wings, recoveries are due to resume in March, weather permitting.

The one that is on display in N.O. is the SBD that was in the
hangar deck display on the mezannine level at P'cola. When
the one recently raised from L. Mich is finished it will replace
the example currently on display and it will return home.

I remember seeing photos of several SBD's pulled from Lake Michigan in storage at Pensacola along with some F4F's. Are they still there or have they all been doled out?

Some have been loaned out. "B-23" is in the restoration
hangar now. They are going to put her back to what she
looked like the day she came up out of L. Mich.
Below is a link to photos of the storage area taken in 07.
