Anyone interested in sponsoring a warbird this year on the airshow circuit, chime in with what warbird, what airshow and how much. Actually you need not list how much. I have three warbirds in mind because I have a personal interest in them. Your contributing can be as little as $10.00, but I'll bet the owners would be very greatful for WIXers to help out this year in this economy. I think all of us would be very proud to help out a warbird in 2009 ... after all, they (warbirds) have allowed us to enjoy our passion through all the good times, we should try to help out this year especially. Can we contribute $5.00 or $10.00 bucks this year? I think we can. Of course they (the owners) can refuse anything we offer, but the offer is what counts. I have given a few dollars to the good folks at Chino and they have always been very, very greatful for it. List your wish list:

My list:

My pal Paul in his wonderful T33, I got a tank full of gas for you when you need it.

My cherished Hellcat with the folks in Camarillo, CA ... obvious choice.

My other pal EDowning, even though he probably doesn't need anything from me, I'd be very happy to throw a few bucks towards gas at any airshow that doesn't pay for his gas.

Maybe we WIXers can offer our support in other ways at airshows this year. Maybe we can clean, polish, wash, whatever ... I think it would be a wonderful thing to support our friends who own and fly what it is we WIXers so much enjoy. I think it would be a great way for WIXers to become even closer with our passion.

Who's going to follow me? List your warbirds

BTW, keep in mind the folks here at WIX as well, throw a few beer dollars their way. My scotch on the rocks can sacrifice every now and then ...

I volunteer my time and labour at VFM, supporting B-17 Chuckie and the Museum in general. I've lost track of how many hundreds of dollars' worth of original WW2 radio equipment I've bought and donated.

A couple of weekends ago, I spent a day working on B-25 Pacific Prowler, helping the guys get her ready for her upcoming tour, including hanging a prop on the right engine.

When the Collings tour is in the Dallas area, as they will be next month, I spend a day volunteering with them.

B-17 Liberty Belle will be in Dallas (actually Addison, at Cavanaugh Flight Museum) this weekend, and although I won't be able to volunteer my time due to other commitments, I do have a flight booked on Sunday, so they'll get a big chunk of money from me.

I can't do as much as I'd like, but I do what I can.

Cheers!

I will pay in the form of a few airshow tickets and museum admissions over the course of the year. I prefer using my money to directly incentivize owners to let me look at their planes.

That's the idea folks, do what you can in anyway that makes you happy. I care about these guys & their airplanes, I could care less if they may happen to be rich themselves. I look at a donation of a few bucks and some spare time as an investment in me and what I enjoy watching in the air. Nothing else, no one's ego, no one's synical attitude, nothing else matters to me .... Airshow tickets are fine as well. Remember these planes won't be flying someday soon. Congrats to all who spend some time and money, no matter how much or how little of each, it's always a good thing anyway you look at it.

I don't know anyone personally in Camarillo at the CAF there, but I do stop in from time to time and throw a few bucks in their donation jar for that Hellcat. I don't need to know anyone to do that. But that's just me ...

The CAF Red Tail Project (P-51C) will be up and flying by early June at the latest. Any financial help that could be provided would not be turned down!

Hellcat,

I’m hurt. Here I find that you visit us on several occasions and don’t walk over and say hello? Naughty.

Dan

Thanks for the giggle.........I certainly don't have a wife....but don't have a husband either.......I suspect my animals would probably be very pleased if I spent less time and certainly LESS money on that beastly ole plane and gave them more ear scratches and FOOD. :P

Chino Paul. Come on out! .... wishful thinking on my part. Just too much going work wise. I did get to Breckenridge last week though. Didn't get to stop and see the folks there though ... How the hell do you guys get the time to play with those toys? I'll tell you what Paul, I'll try to make Oshkosh this year, I'm sure you'll be there. So if you are .... I need a flight suit with a lot of patches and an American flag on it and one bad motherf*cking helmet. Cause you well know the chicks dig warbirds and bad*sses in flight suits .... haha
