Thought some here might enjoy this photo that I just ran across...

Anyone have any ideas/information about it?

The Atlantic Aircraft Fokker C-2? Maybe the "Question Mark" that was used in early inflight fueling exercises?

The "Question Mark" was one of the aircraft in the pre-war air museum at the Dayton-Wright, all of which were scrapped in 1942 (the Bleriot surviving because someone took it off the scrap heap and hid it in their garage for the duration).

(the other) Kevin.

Interesting possibility (the other) Kevin. It would be neat to know if that's what this is.

On the pre-WWII museum, it would sure be interesting to see a list of what was there. Do you know why it was all scrapped? Not trying to get into museum politics, just curious what the thought process was.

According to the site below, it is indeed the Question Mark C-2:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Question_Mark_(airplane)

The photo indicates that it was taken in 1929, and Wikipedia notes the following:

The Question Mark was re-engined with 300 horsepower (220 kW) Wright R-975 engines in 1931, and redesignated as a "C-7". It served out its service life as the transport airplane for the 22nd Observation Squadron at Pope Field, North Carolina. (the unit so inscribed on the pic)

..Forgot to add that the (airplane) needs to be on the URL so's you get to the right place. Should look like this:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Question_Mark_(airplane)
