I remember seeing a picture in a magazine sometime back of a B-58 mounted under a B-36. Can't remember which magazine it was and so far cannot find the picture on any of the more popular B-36 or B-58 sites. Not trying to get anybody in trouble for putting the picture up here or even a link to it would be fine. Anybody else remember seeing that picture?

Thanx ahead of time...

They used the B-36 to haul the prototype B-58 for testing. They had to remove the props from #3 and 4 recips, and lock the landing gear down.

Found this. It is only a mock up of a B-58. Interesting project.

That B-58 airframe was actually the static test airframe, rather than a mock-up. Convair had to decide if they were going to complete the aircraft to airworthy status in order to ferry it to Wright Field for destructive testing, but this method was much easier and less expensive. The B-36 was pretty heavily modified for the flight and one reference I've read says that it was not put back into normal SAC service after the ferry trip.

i noticed the needle nose is off the b-58, probably to clear the bomb bay front.

Where's the 58's tail? Sticking out of the roof?
