I have been downloading and listening to many wonderful old radio programmes on my iPod from this archive of public domain shows:

One such series that has some great radio adaptations of classic war films is Lux Radio Theatre, which were directed by the Hollywood great Cecil B. DeMille. He also introduced each show and in the intro for 'I Wanted Wings' (download from this page)

"In 1917 I started the first airline to carry passengers on regularly scheduled flights between cities in the United States, and we trained many pilots for the Army too."
I found it fascinating that he was involved in aviation. So I decided to look for more info. The only references I could find to him starting an airline. including on his official site here
http://www.cecilbdemille.com/bio.html state he started Mercury Aviation in California in 1919. Does anyone know about his 1917 airline? I wish he'd talked more about it. I wonder if there are any interviews out there where he discusses it.
