Warbird Information Exchange

This was a visit to the old museum at Quantico back in 1985. The in door bit was closed and by the lack of Marines about the place they must have all been out fighting someone! Although in 1985 whom would they have been fighting? I have tried to trace were these little beauties have all gone using the directory.

Tiger Cat 80375. I THINK that this is at Pima County. I saw another one in the same condition when I visited Pima a few years later

I have no idea about these two. No serial visible.


The only thing I have found out about this Tiger was that just about all the other Tigers left are in Blue Angel colours!!!

Shame to see a prototype F4H-1 Phantom sitting neglected even then.
If that is a F-4A maybe -- who knows?

The D558-1 is at the Carolinas Aviation Museum in Charlotte, NC.
Both Phase one Skystreak's survived testing and Pensacola has the other one.
Ace Marion Carl flew both airframes in testing.

The F-11 might be the one that's now at the Air Zoo. I know it's on loan from the USMC so that could be where it ended up.

This brings back memories. I was 14 and on a family trip to VA in 1982 when we stumbled across this museum as it is right off I95. Being a Grumman fan I keenly remember the Panther, but I also recall going inside and they had a just restored F4U Corsair on display.

I returned in 1989 while passing thru VA and the museum was much improved indoors with an F4F, SBD and dioramas. I have to look for those pics.

I take it this museum closed when the new USMC museum opened?

According to Joe Baugher's site, EF-10B 124618 is "derelict in parking lot at MCAS Quantico". That doesn't sound good. Does anyone have a recent photo of her?
