Since i dont own a warbird or part of yet ( well i do have fingers in several operations).. thought we could all chip in and see what have "you done for warbirds and heritage lately ?

Myself i have brought in last 4months around $5000 of rare flying gear to restore and display at airshows in future.

A lot of rare stuff has appeared and if im crazy eniugh to keep spending, i will buy more shortly and some of this will be very rare if i do get it.

I also joined up to volunteer at a few museums. Helping out does good and well someone got to do the hard yards so the public can see machinary at work. Pity that many people 20-40 age range dont want to help out and leave it for a select few to tough it out.

Shortly i will be building a P-51 Mustang cockpit if all going well, to tour around airshows in 2009but i feel more likely 2010.

Also taking to airshows my business tool - a flying gear photo cut out for kids "big and small" to pose with for a fun photo.
Will make people more aware of pilots from the days of old.

Well... I have put 90% of my life on hold to go back to school and get my A & P with an aim towards being able to be more deeply involved in Warbirds and GA.

Until then, I spread the word of local airshows and events to my Fencing Students. It's great to see a kid's eyes light up to hear an airshow is coming to the area- and better to see a parent's eyes light up that its cheaper than a movie to go spend a day doing something the whole family will enjoy. I've even managed to get a few off to the local Young Eagles program for a bigger taste of the world of Aviation in general.

I volunteer at Yankee Air Museum, I am a Crew Chief on 2 projects. 1.) a Ranger SGV-770 engine. Anybody have some non service pistons or cylinders? 2.) PB4Y-2 BuNo 5-9876. We are working with front and rear turrerts now. Anybody know the whereabouts of a mounting structure or plans of one for an ERCO SH-250? I work with a great bunch of guy's, and it is a ton of fun! We are also looking for a right side blister turret, we have an extra left side. Thanks - JOE

I've bought a few books and manuals lately, trying to educate myself on aircraft and their systems on a more detailed level. I saw an Aero Industries Technical Institute set on aircraft manufacturing that I should have bought. I'd like to learn enough to be useful, and then get involved with a static restoration or something.

I'm not that far from Willow Run, and that PB4Y sounds like a cool project. I used to work with Barry Vance, who worked on the B-17 out there, and he gave me a tour once. I haven't been out there in a long time. I guess for a first step I should at least become a member.

Gotta love that kind of honesty. That rocks!

Me? Spent last saturday with Paul and Herwig at WHF and photographed the Sabre for their website. Just posted some shirts and mugs for sale with one of the shots.

Well, I've spent the last month or two helping to do winter maintenance on the Liberty Belle. We replaced 3 turbochargers, changed #3 engine, pulled and painted the props, did a ton of wiring work, and a host of other things. It's easily the most satisfying work I've ever done. I'm going to be sorry to see the plane leave the area in a week or so........
