I'm wonering if anyone knows what the markings of N5444V (in restoration at American Aero Services) are going to be? At least which Fighter Group?

They were either natural metal or silver paint from the factory. Likely painted. I have yet to see a photo of a green door from the factory. There is a color photo in Ethell's book, of one ETO P-51D-5NA with green doors. Otherwise, all have silver doors, both for the gear leg and wheels.

The doors covering the legs were usually NMF or silver painted on the inner face. The inside of the wheel doors were primed in yellow zinc chromate on Dallas D/K deliveries.
