Does anyone know where I can get some Randolph Green Zinc Chromate primer # 800? Aircraft Spruce does not carry it anymore. I purchased some of their PTI brand and the color is way different. Kind of tough when you are halfway through a project... Thanks.

Go dig around in the MAINTENANCE HANGER-
About a year ago I was involved in quite a discussion about Zinc Chromate (deadly dangerous stuff!) and using water based primers that your local autobody paint store can computer match to any color you want

Found it! It's on Pg. 6 of Maintenance Hanger under 'Restoring aluminum skins'
more than you asked for but please read all of it - I've given you all some valuable information in that posting

Thanks. I did read through it. Can you recommend a brand of the water based stuff that I can use that can be matched to my Green Zinc Chromate 800? The problem is that I have years of work that is covered in Randolph zinc chromate and a lot of it is already buttoned up. No way am I going back in and redoing any of this stuff.

Doesn't Chief Aircraft offer Randolph brand dopes? Maybe they can get the zinc chromate as well.

Or just contact Randolf directly and see if they have a local distributor:

Ask the countermen @ your local auto paint store. So much water based paint is now available (like the metallic finish on your newer car) those guys and gals are up to speed on applications. You should be able to spray it right up to or slightly overlap the existing ZC and never notice. Or if it's critical, tape or mask @ a joint and use water based to finish. The stuff is incredible and very long lasting (like 20+ years in commercial use), Boeing uses it everywhere on the airframe and the stuff is solvent resistant so spills 'wipe up with ease'
