Well....I think its a Japanese aircraft in captured U.S. markings. I am guessing somewhere based down under! :lol:

Not sure but it bears a striking similarity to the Zero cockpit/centre section at the IWM in London,

Well done Len, 100%, and have a warm feeling. ;)

The markings are actually 'ATAIU SEA' For Allied (not American) Technical Air Intelligence Unit, South East Asia.

There were a lot of photos of Japanese a/c floating around just after the war with these markings on, as they were often the best photos we had of these aircraft flying.

I remember as a kid seeing pictures of aircraft marked ATAIU SEA without any description of what the markings meant. I spent hours searching for the USS Ataiu Sea or HMS Ataiu Sea and even looked in atlases for the Ataiu Sea!
