I was wondering what the typical range is today for one of the restored B17s on the airshow and tour circuit. I imagine it is not what it was in 1944 but since she originally had the range for Berlin and back I was curious.

Most of the 17s have had the Tokyo tanks removed so that just leaves the mains and reserves, but other than the Liberty Bell flight to Europe, most flights are prob no more than 2 or 3 hrs in length, that is more than enough range to get to the next airshow

I remember DTs b-17 had the tokyo tanks in the early ninties with working turbos.I'm not sure about now.Since the meet with the ILS shack at Pope AFB they may have been removed. The outboard right wing panel really took it in the shorts and we wont even talk about what happened to the shack.

Once flew DT's non stop from Niagara Falls, NY to Centennial in Denver that was just short of 9.5 hours. Tokyos were utilized. They are still installed and functional, but rarely used.
