The Ark Royal was scraped.

Indeed. It's a disgrace that the largest surviving preserved C20 British warship is a City Class cruiser HMS
Belfast. Not a single battleship or carrier has been preserved. A shocking omission for a maritime nation.
Of course HMS
Ark Royal (III) of W.W.II vintage was found where it had sunk, and is relatively intact. But as Dirk Pitt's fictional and they can't find the cash to support a Vulcan in the UK, it'll be staying where it is.
There is a current (fifth)
Ark Royal in the RN.
