This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Does anyone have pictures of any derelict warbirds(any thing from Bt-13s to C-47) sitting around the United states today(excluding muesums). For examble my dad told me a couple of years ago he saw a P-51 just sitting around at San Jose nairport. Another i think of is an F-86 sitting at westover field in Jackson California.

Ethan-
Being from Chino, I would venture to guess that you have one of the best collections of warbirds sitting outside anywhere in the US- even with the museums excluded.
Speaking of which, I was just there two weeks ago. Where else can you see 4 Mustangs at once (2 in the air and 2 in the hangar rows) outside an airshow or museum?!?!?

By "just sitting around" I take it you mean more or less derelict aircraft?

chino is a great place maybe even the greatest place for warbirds but it doesnt seem like the same place I was several years ago.although I'm there so often I probably take it for granted.

The Mustang that was at San Jose was moved years ago and it is now under restoration:

As of this past March - the F-86 was still sitting at Westover, but I didn't see it the last time I flew over in October.

This F-86 was given to a Veterans group to be displayed, and may have found a hangar to continue working on it?

Thats "Chapter XI" to a few of us that have been around.

I think "Chapter XI" is a more fitting name with its current status.

Hey Daffy Duck,
Is that PT still at FKN? If so, take a pic of the mushrooms growing out of the prop.
I gotta answer your PM, too.

It wasn't long ago that you could throw a rock and just about hit an S-2 Tracker sitting on some lonely stretch of tarmac somewhere. Probably more than a few out there still waiting for loving owners.

Sounds a bit like the eight Trackers sitting at the side of the road near St Augustine.
