Do we all have to go out and buy the book or are you going to tell us who the artist was and where the image first appeared?

Well, ya know, I was walking through the book store and saw this book, and clipped it with my camera in my cell phone. I just thought it was interesting that there is a goddess of flight, and all this time, I thought it was the B-25

Well, based on a little googling the image dates from 1911. It is clearly a photo with the model's dress pinned to a wall to simulate the wind. The model plane is a pretty advanced design for that date and the lady, a hottie by any era's standards, is posed/dressed in a mighty risque way for the period, verging on softcore. If you invoked divinity you could get away with a bit more in those days. I have some other books on aviation and culture from that period, maybe I can find out a little more.

I found a better copy on the Web. No explanation with it, however.

The tail colors look French to me. (So does the hottie :D ).

Thanks guys for the interest in my little something.
It is bizzar that she appears to be worshipping the aeroplane in hand.
I wonder just who the model for this was.

Just got that book at Marshalls the other day for around ten bucks. A decent find with some cool pictures I may cut out and frame. Not too much technical insight and some errors noted but cool.
