Wouldn't it make a unique display to just clean the parts up and place them in a giant replica of a model kit box complete with cover art!
It could include a decal sheet, instructions and maybe some giant yellow Testors paint in a bottle, a tube of cement and a paint brush.
All scaled to the Stearman in the box!
It would be pretty neat in a museum or as a modern art project. Heck, you could probably get money from the Endowement for the Arts to do it!

Always dreaming!

I think all of those parts/projects would look much better in my hangar here in Wyoming instead of outside on the ramp in Arizona.
I wish!!!!

Still looking for help on these!!!! If anyone is interested and can run over there, I got a favor. In recent months, I have discoverd that the NAF had a MFG number. Its on a tag that is rivited to the firewall by the upper right hand engine mount (facing foreward). I would love the numbers off those airframes. That would get me close to a number where I can decifer a Bureau Number. Thanks all!!

N2N & N3N photos 1986

I was working as a helicopter mechanic at Luke AFB, AZ in 1986. I am a big time aircraft history buff. I always took my camera wherever I went. By word of mouth my friend & I heard about a pile of old aircraft just off I-10 on Yuma Rd. We traveled to a old crop duster strip on the south side of I-10 in what I think was a part of Goodyear Arizona. This place was not to far from the old Navy aircraft storage facility at Litchfield Park. It was like stepping back in time or stepping into a place frozen in time. I took photos in Dec. 1986 of what looks like these same airframes. I can match up at least one airframe in the above photos when I compare them to mine. I'm pretty sure they are the same. A little more photo investigation would confirm the airframes. We could not believe the amount of warbird material sitting in front of us. At least 6 N2N/N3N airframes, 3 C-45s (one C-45 was a Navy JRB-6 that was in original paint) and a most unique F9F Cougar (photo recon. version). I returned back to this location in 1994 but everything had changed. No airframes around. Just a few pieces of scrap metal. I do not recall of anything to take photos of. When I saw the above photos it hit the memory banks of a interesting day spent hunting down some old aircraft while living in Arizona. We knew back then that these airframes need to be saved.
