VT45 pix, info sought

Fri Feb 13, 2009 8:46 pm

My uncle, Lt. Donald D. Lennox, served aboard the USS San Jacinto as a VT45 TBM pilot . Although sufferring from Alzheimers', he got a huge kick out of some pix I recently sent him of MAAMs TBM, so I thought I'd see if I could dig up some more appropriate period pix. A quick search didn't turn up much on VT45 (VT51 seems to be better known !!) so I figured I'd see what you guys might be able to steer me towards. The SAN Jacinto site had some nice pix, but mostly of VT51 - it may not make any difference, but I'm thinking he might get a kick out of maybe seeing one of his boys in action.

Jack Cook, I printed off a copy of "Turkey in the Pattern" that you posted here some time ago - he was thrilled and has it framed on his desk !!! Many thanks on his behalf !!!

Jack, Thank you very much - I appreciate it and I am sure my uncle will, too !!!
It is a pity to watch the progress of this disease. Seeing pix like these seems to brighten his day and bring back a little of the old spark, so your help is greatly appreciated.
VT45 seems to lie in the shadow of VT51, but in glancing through his logbook, I am not sure 51 had a monopoly on bravery or commitment to duty. God bless 'em all !
