TACAN needed

I'm still in need of a TACAN for my Fouga restoration but have been unable to find one here in Europe. Any of the US folks who can help me? I'm looking for this:

TACAN control panel. Hoffman Electronics Co., C-1763/ARN-21A.

It was fitted to aircraft like T-33, F-104,...

You may have a hard time getting one from the states. The TACAN head is controlled for export by the Intl Arms Agreement.

Doesn't matter how old. As it was explained to me by the guys running the Defense Logistcs Agency ( known as the DLA ) Demil office, "age is no reason for reclassification , an unfriendly government could see our technology path " ! They were serious ! I tried to apply real world logic but was unable to break through to these guys.

Now, after 9/11 it is worse. I bought some AN switches yesterday and had to fill out an end use statement that stated the components would be used for domestic purposes only ! These were simple toggle switches, can you imagine how a TACAN head would be looked at ? Oh, the horror, should something like that be allowed to roam free !!!

US law is getting more stupid by the minute :evil:

I can't even get a normal HGU-55 pilot helmet from the US without special permits. I can get the older types though, that is why I thought this might be the case for the TACAN panel also.

Used to be stupid people kept their heads tied on to keep from losing them. Nowadays they work for the bureaucracy and have rectally mounted storage bins in which they keep their heads... :shock:

I have 2 purchased locally here in Europe. Flightsuits is US based so same problem. They are controlled by that weapons law. You wouldn't want a terrorist to make an attack with a fiberglass flighthelmet would you?

The ITAR regulations existed before Sept 11, 2001.

Not all US export regulations are terrorist generated.

DZ is right, of course, but the enforcement seems to have become considerably more stringent and it also seems to cover many more products than it used to.

Yeah, I used to collect flighthelmets; Before 9/11 I had absolutely no problem in getting helmets or parts from the US. After 9/11 the curtain closed. Getting flightgear from after 1975 is near impossible. Same seems to have happened with instruments and aircraft parts in general. Even if the aircraft in question isn't of US fabrication. The world really changed after 9/11.
