In the CBI photo, the gun barrels appear to be taped as seen in some factory photos - yet the airplane does not appear anywhere near new gauging the skin condition and prop blade paint wear. Any idea what's going on in this scene?

Q2: The CBI original has a one-piece pilot's windshield instead of the horizontal frame with or without armor. Anybody in the know on what models of H and J had the armor, just the frame, or neither - and why?

Dirt and crushed rock airstrips tend to beat the h*ll out the airplanes.
