Well, we did make it out with the L-5. What a fabulous day.
I'll give my negative comment first... The crowd was small. This was the absolute best aviation event I've been to all year, and the crowd was pathetically small. But that was OK, because it meant that my family got to talk more with the survivors who were there. I bet most of the other pilots really didn't care about the crowd size anyway. I was just sad, because with as significant an event as possibly the last major gathering of the Pearl Harbor survivors, I would have been gratified to see more of the public turn out. Ok, sorry for the rant.
The positives? Great weather, tons of warbirds, some fun flybys and formations, pleasant temperatures, and more. And yes, I'll add some pictures soon.

Ryan Harris? He should've caught me before I left...
The A-26 looked great. Here are a few shots.

This was one of the awesome things about the day. You'd be going along doing stuff, and something else would show up!

I'm pretty sure that the collection on the ramp was better than the Lackland Airfest back in November... and this was an all volunteer thing!

Let's see, attendees that I caught were two P-51s, one P-38, one P-40, one P-39, FM2, TBM, Helldiver, Corsair, Twin Beech flown by a WIXer, A-26, L-2, C-47 (static), 4 T-6/SNJ types, Stearman, that UH-11 or whatever Ober's cousin's aircraft is, a Bird Dog, and an L-5. More may have arrived, but I left around 4 pm and arrived at Cannon literally seconds before the sun slipped over the horizon. Had just enough light left to fuel the plane up and taxi to the hangar.
Also, a few planes did flybys that did not stop.

Oh, can you spot the turkey?

I know some will hate me for this statement, but the P-51 is just a pretty plane.

I didn't get any flying photos as I'd just landed, but I think my sister may have.

Wow, that Stearman is defying gravity flying without a propeller! Is it using anti-gravity or did you photoshop the tow rope out? :D

After hanging out with such esteemed company all weekend, that's going to be the most stuckup PA-23 in San Marcos!

You asked can any one spot the Turkey. He's the big guy in the camo orange shirt in front of the TBM. Keep the pictures coming. At least now I can prove to Mrs. Ober I was there. What a great bunch of planes.
