But if, as I keep hearing, all of these are leaving or have left Chino to go live in Texas, is the run of amazing Chino airshows basically over? Not that POF itself doesn't field a good team, but the Friedkin planes filled several gaps and provided second examples of a lot of types that really enhanced the show over the past few years. They'll seem a little anemic without the Friedkin birds for a while, IMO.

They have wings and are flyable. Maybe some will get back to Chino for their show.
The support that the Friedkin's have given to POF over the years has been incredible. They are good people.

alot of his collection is in texas. he has an f-86, f3f, t-33, sterman, and a-36 in chino. he also has a couple of planes in valle arizona skyraider, t-28, the duck, and another f3f.

He wasn't at the secret owners convention ( or maybe he was, but I'm not saying) so I couldn't ask him what all's coming. Only thing here is a Mustang that has been seen.

Yeah, portions of the Friedkin collection have formed a large part of the Planes of Fame (Chino, California) display for a lot of years, but many have departed for Texas recently (i.e. Spitfires IX and XIV, Hellcat, Wildcat, Bearcat, Hurricane and others). Is this a temporary or permanent arrangement? Are the Friedkin warbirds on display in Texas, and if so, where? Any news is welcome! Thanks, octane130.

They are in Kerrville (60 miles wesr of SA) in a seldom opened private hangar.

Here's hoping they become more accessible again. I take 51fixer's point that "some may" participate in future Chino shows, but that's a lot different from "all will" participate as has been the case in recent years. I suspect that the last several Chino shows in May will come to be recalled as vintage years, not to be equalled for a while at that venue. Meanwhile it is looking like there could be a true blockbuster in Texas if Friedkin, Lewis, CAF, Cavanaugh, and Lone Star all made a real max effort some year.

In my opinion, the vintage shows all occurred in the 1980s. A-4, T-38, F-86, a handful of T-33s and the best field of unlimited air racers short of Reno. All that in addition to the piston warbirds we know and love.
