I read a tidbit on FlyPast about the Dambusters re-make. I read that 8-10 full-scale Lancasters will be made for the film. Pretty cool! I do wonder if they will be fiberglass or aluminum replicas?

I can see a few Ebay auctions in 2-3 years for these guys. A Lanc would look pretty sweet sitting out in my pasture.

Has anyone seen any of these mockups?

Sorry for bringing such an old post back to life.

WOW...What a good idea. I don't have a pasture but I'd sure like to put one in my backyard. That is if I could get permission from my neighbors to allow everything outboard of 1 & 4 to hang over into their yards.

Mudge the neighborly

I remember visiting Fantasy of Flight a few years ago and was able to talk to Ken Kellett about this movie. It seemed his opinion was that none of the mockups would be saved due the fact that weren't worthy of being saved. Almost like "Why would you want a giant fake crummy Lanc?"

I know a few of us here would would want them. :D

Bah, if I can have an F-84F in my back yard, you can have a Lancaster. The trick is having neighbors and local police that like old warbirds. :D

Just add water?

......and 10,000 hours of rework to every single part? The best mine will ever do is look pretty on the outside and in the cockpit.

Just seen a hilarious post on another forum about the 8/10 lancs, that goes something like this :

person A : "Are the cast going to be 8/10 ths scale too ?"

person B : " They sure are, I've heard that Tom Cruise has already been approached to play Guy Gibson "

Where are all of these Lanc replicas? That many must be outdoors somewhere.

The rumour is that the mock-ups were produced in China. Current whereabouts unknown.
