Thanks to the LIFE photos thread,

(Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong)

The construction # of the P-38 is 5744. GG's is 5757. So with GG's Ser No. being 41-7630 that would make this Lightning's Ser No. 41-7617.

JB lists 41-7617 as: (1st FG) crashed on landing at Goxhill, England Aug 19, 1942
