Hey James,

besides my assumption that they all served with the RAAF, umm....

1.) They all looked (or would look) silly on floats?
2.) Marina says "They all had propellers" which is true, right? ;)
3.) I dunno, I'll let some other people try.

Cheers,

David

hmmmm??

All flown on floats at some time - no Mossie fails - smiles

All got wright cyclones - no not two of them?

All tail draggers - no ones a float dragger?

All got retractable u/c - not two of them?

All designed in the early 1930's? no not two of them?

All successful and long production runs - not one of them?

Of course - I know the answer!!

they were all listed on WIX in JDK's pointless quiz No. 4,327.5?

Regards

Mark Pilkington

I'm sure no-one is going to be surprised to learn everyone's not just wrong so far, but cold, cold, cold.

I'll provide a clue...

...later!

Very creative, but ...er, no?

Clue. You could also include in the hardware Daimler Armoured Cars, a U boat and a US Navy Cruiser.

And technology is not the answer.

...mmm Float Mosquito...

No. File under 'not a good idea'.

OK, another clue - the aircraft's technology is irrelevant. They all appeared in one of...

Another 'set':

Percival Prentice

early Cessna 150 (I think)

DHC Chipmunk (Canadian hood)

DH Tiger Moth

Republic P-47 Thunderbolt

Hawker Siddeley Trident

The first set answer contains the word 'Red'. The second contains the work 'Black' and they're both places.

Hmmm....all were developed as private ventures, rather than being solicited by the government or military?

Chris has been closest/warmest...

Boy, are people gonna be mad when the answer's revealed. I might have to hide!

5th clue: The answer started in Belgium, and is a worldwide phenomenon.

Red Bull owns them all and they'll be highly polished, have glass cockpits and a RB logo on the nose
