Of course they could have selected the Defender which was typically lethal only for the pilot...

To technically be a pilot the machine you are operating needs to be able to fly. But the defender wouldn't have been lethal to its operation in production versions as it would have air bags installed IIRC.

The 737 MMA, aka P8 Poseiden, is in production now, but has not began flight testing. With internal weapons storage as well as external hard points, it should be a very lethal aircraft for the enemy.

Well...I was kinda being facetious. The 737 is the most widely used airliner in the world and has been in use for a long time. Therefore it has the distinction of having the highest fatality count in the jet airliner class, some 8700 folks. (The DC-3 is even higher with 9800+ fatalities...but that's over 60+ years of service. )

The DC-3 stuff is just for airliners, I think.

The rule of thumb is - if it's got a cargo door, it's one of the military types. If it's got a single round topped door, it's a DC3 or civilian built version. Someone might have a better measure though!

Thorp T-18?? Some pretty nasty characteristics, or are we looking for gross numbers?
