Coleman Tug info needed

Fri Nov 07, 2008 5:48 pm

Hey folks - my friends at Lone Star are trying resurect some of the ground support vehicles aftet the recent flood. They are coming along quite well but need information on the Coleman Tug - Specifically the automatic transmssion. The records on what type of transmission and fluid it takes are MIA(it is an automatic). It seems to have a mopar engine, but the trasnimssion is pretty heavy duty and probaly not anything standard. Since the fluid had not been changed in a long long long time they are a littel nervous about putting in the wrong stuff since it would probaly be almost impossible to get it rebuilt.

They rely on this unit to move the larger aircraft and specifically the B-17 so any help would be great.

It is similar to the Coleman that was recently disussed in this thread -

Coleman Tug

Steve,
I have a complete pdf manual for the six cylinder version of this tug. Ours is a MOPAR V8 so I'm not sure if the transmission is the same or not. I suspect they are similar and I do not think you will have very much trouble finding parts or a place to overhaul it if needed. There are still plenty of these beasts wondering around airports in North America. I can send you the CD with the pdf copy of the manual or email it to you. just PM me if you want me to try your email.
