I would bet they didnt like them very much.Best thing they could have done would be to change out firewall forward with allison power.

You be losing money if you took that bet. The Merlin P-40 was very well liked by the squadron. The 44th flew Fs for over a year and scored close to 100 kills. They had a few Ms also but the top scoring Warhawk in both the sqd and in the AAF was #111 which had 16 documented kills while being flown by 4 different aces! It was returned to the states for war bond drives and survived to the late 60s-early 70s in a trade school but then vanished.

Oh! So that's where it came from.

If you're talking Stepen Grey, I asked the serial of his longtail
but got no reply. I'm the sqd historian and really would like to tell
a couple guys before they pass on. Plus if it is The paint better be right!

Peter,
His a/c is said to be a long tail but they're saying 41-14___ but that's the s/n for a short tail. 41-19___ would be correct. :idea: Thx....Jack
