This video was shot at a Fighter Aces Syposium at the Champlin Fighter Museum in 1990. It was a magic couple of days to say the least. I hope you enjoy.

IIRC at another time they also ran the DB601 on their ME109? Anyone remember?

I think that 109 was converted from a Buchon? I imagine its in WA now.

Hey! Was that Oscar in the beginning of the video? (Boesh)

Thank you so much for posting this. I really look forward to the day when a Dora comes to life again and perhaps takes to the air.

Even running rough, the Jumo sounds a lot like the DB in Black 6. Without the video it would be hard to tell the difference.

That's nice, it's the first time I see an inertia starter in action!

Hawkeye; That was Oscar Boesch in the beginning of the video. If I remember correctly, other German aces that were there included Wolfgang Fahlke, Gerhard Kroll and Franz Steigler.

They also ran the DB-601 on the 109. Not quite as hard to start.

Cheers,

Greg

Pretty good times. That's probably as close as I'll ever be to seeing the Dora run. :D
