A friend on an Egroup asked this question...

"I am making a 1/72 Lockheed Orion. I want to make it with the side door open. My problem is I dont know how the door is attached - is it hinged at the side or does it slide open, or open internally? I cant find any photos of the plane with this door open.Any help please"

I know Jack probably has a good idea. Anyone???

I just happened to see a P-3 yesterday on the ramp, and the door hinges forward, ie, hinges on the left as looking to the fuselage from the air stairs.

The P-3 crew door (left rear aft) is a plug type door. Plugs the hole from inside, pulls in, slides forward to open.
