I thought some of you might be interested to know that Pima has just released an all new guide to the museum's collection. The book is just over 270 pages long and contains complete histories of all the aircraft at the museum along with a current (relatively) color photo of each and every one including the stuff in storage and awaiting restoration. Here is a photo of the cover and a sample page:

The information is similar to what is on our web site but generally more complete.

If you are interested in a copy and aren't going to be in the area soon you can order one from the museum's store by calling 520-618-4810 between 9am and 5pm pretty much any day. The paperback edition costs $29.95 plus shipping, and the hardback edition is $39.95 plus shipping. Obviously all the money goes to support the museum.

Hope the sales plug isn't a problem. If it is, moderators feel free to delete the post.

James,
Many Thanks for posting. I wish more museums had this type of information available about their collections.
Now I know what I want for Christmas/Chanukah/Kwanza this year.

Any postable updates at to the status of the A-20 restoration/future. Is the restoration continuing while the Tallichet estate get resolved?

We're not currently working on the A-20 but it has nothing to do with the Tallichet estate. We're waiting on some parts from the UK for the A-20 so the restoration staff that was working on it has been moved to the B-26 Marauder, which is, of course, also a Tallichet aircraft. They are making great progress on rebuilding the wings and nacelles on the Marauder. If you want to keep up with our restoration projects go to this link:

http://www.pimaair.org/restoration.php

All of our ongoing projects and usually the last couple of completed ones are listed there. It is kept fairly up to date with new photos and descriptions of the activity.

I'm glad you like the look of it. When I was writing it I tried to think about what kinds of information my fellow airplane nuts :D would like to have as well as making it useful for the general visitors to the museum.

I'm very impressed that you provide a thumbnail history of the actual airplane in the text rather than the generic information most often distributed. I personally like to learn the history of the individual machine I am looking at, even if it led a mundane life. Great job!
