Not sure, but I think you've got your code option 'off'.

Go to your 'Profile' (top right between adverts). Go into that and riigght down to check your 'Always allow BBCode:'. If that's 'off' click 'on'. If it's already 'on' I dunno!

I've just tested it, with a straight copy/paste from his post 1, and it works in my post:
