Haven't heard much lately about the new FW190's flying yet. I'm wondering if down the road we may see several of these new FW190's in the air and at airshows. Anyone have an idea of the pricetag on a new one? I also wonder just how fast and manuverable these new FW's are.

Just a few questions.

Check the thread on the Tri-State Warbird Museum. There's some info about their Flug Werk 190 there.

A freind of mine talked to somebody at Stallion 51, which has one of the Flug Werk Allison-engine Doras. I don't think they've flown it yet..the guy who works there said they were less-than-impressed with the workmanship.

Like you, I hope to see a 190 in the skies myself (I just finally got to see a 109 fly for the first time a couple of years ago.) Hey, there's a great theme for "Thunder Over Michigan" next year...a gathering of all flying Luftwaffe birds in the States. Heck, expand it to Axis planes in general. That way, maybe we could get the Tora gang and a couple of "real" Zeroes.

The answer is there are a number now very close to flying, including the Fighter factory example in Germany. In a year or so I think there will be a fairly healthy population but dispersed across the world.

I heard something similar. What does this all mean? Would we might think that Flug Werk is pumping out cheap "knock-off' FW190's? Kind of like fake rolex watches you can purchase in Bali? .... Why do I know this? I purchased a fake rolex in Bali that only worked until I was a few blocks away and then fell apart ... lolol ....

Again, anyone have a clue as to how much one of these FW190's cost? I guess I could contact Flug Werk and ask.

If you look under the diary section, and scroll down, there are some cockpit shots.

All of this is my speculation, but I would say the large yellow piece on the right side of the cockpit is the throttle, but where is the Mixture and RPM control? What sort of engine/prop combos are we talking here?

I'm seeing the MP and Tach on the right side of the cockpit, but where do I control the RPM?

I believe on the FW-190, there is only a throttle, everything else was controlled automatically.

It is rather fascinating that the throttle lever, all-in-one, within a 190 also controlled, automatically, the fuel flow, mixture strength, propeller pitch, and ignition timing. There was a switch at the end of the throttle which allowed the pilot to manually control the prop pitch as well, and from the single photo on Flug Werk's site, it appears that the same is true on their example.

Yes, a hydro-electric engine control computer (kommandogerat.) It's also present on the long nose version.

I believe that Jerry Yagen's "original" FW190 is nearling completion in Germany. I was told also that he has a hand in 4 "reproductions" in the US. Tom Blair of Florida has two FWs, a long nose and short nose. One is in Florida with the Allison (not flying yet) and the other I think is in Britain.
