Any TU-4's left?

Mon Oct 13, 2008 4:27 pm

With the world population of possibly flyable B-29s at extremely low levels, are there any TU-4s (reverse engineered B-29s made in Russia) left that could possible be restored to flying condition?

China has at least two (on display outside of Beijing) that were converted into AWACS aircraft with turboprop engines.

I think there's one at the Russian museum at Monino. It's been outdoors for decades, so it would probably take massive resources to make it flyable. Probably academic anyway, as I doubt the Russkies would turn her loose.
