It looks like Dick Tracy. He's saying "I think I'll join the MPs!"

He is saying "I think I'll join the MPs." It is either Dick Tracy or Fearless Fosdick. They look almost identical. I'd lean toward FF since it is right next to Lil Abner.

The face is more like Fosdick, but the light colored hat and coat look like Tracy. Either way, where's his hair? Too much Wildroot Cream Oil?

(You guys must think I'm 75 years old now!)

Bartigans daughter was out the other day in Lincoln. She had an album full of letters and photos from his military service. Instead of writing letters he illustrated them much like the Sunday comic blocks.

Looks like Bluto from the "Popeye" strip is serving Dagwood Bumstead a "bully beef special".

Can't read all of it on my pic either. Slight change in view from your pic.

Based on the lettering I was wondering if this was based with Dragon And His Tail.

I also wonder if decals were ever made for this one as i'd love to build it for my collection.

I believe it was done by the same artist who did "Dragon." There were several "billboard" B-24s on Ie Shima, including "Michigan," "Mabel's Labels," "Cocktail Hour" and "Million $ Baby." I'm not sure if they were all the work of the same artist, though.

I belive that is "Wimpy", not "Bluto".

You know, "I'd gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today."
