Okay you fabulous factoidists, I've got a cold one riding on this and desperately need your help.

Is Bill Destefani now the winningest unlimited air race pilot? Or is Greenamyer still the man to beat?

How about planes...is Strega, Dago, or Rare Bear ahead of Greenamyer's Conquest 1 (and other names it went by) now, or is that still the winningest plane?

I thought this would be a simple google job, but for the life of me, I can't find a simple unlimited air race win list. Can anyone help?

Thanks!

There is a database of all the results for all the races at www.airrace.org

You will have to search year by year and add them up.

Thanks...I was doing that, except I can' t remember all the names Rare Bear flew under, nor Conquest 1, so I can't add them up. A quick run through on the pilot's shows Daryl and Bill tied at 7 each though...but I was hoping someone had a site with a simple and complete list of Gold winners since 1964.

No need to search it, at least for Reno, it's in the program each year.

This of course does not include the Hamilton AFB, Mojave, Louisiana, Arizona, etc races of the past.

Darryl Greenamyer - 7 (last win in 1977, Red Baron)
Bill Destefani - 7 (this year included)

Lyle Shelton - 6 (last win in 1991, with Rare Bear)

Skip Holm - 5 (last win in 2002, Dago Red)

Rare Bear - total of 8 wins, two different pilots (If this plane were raced under a different name in the earlier years, it's possible it's had more wins)

Now, if you use your title "Winningest Reno Pilot, Greenamyer has also won 4 races in the Sport Class for a total of 11 Gold races.
But.......
Jon Sharp has won 14 Gold races between the Formula and Sport Class.
Ray Cote has one 13 Gold races in the Formula Class

Shelton built Rare Bear from a wreck he bought from Earl Reinert so I don't think it had any racing history.

Greenamyer also has at least 4 Sport class wins.
